As we approach the first anniversary of the historic 2024 Bond, projects are well underway throughout Round Rock ISD, reflecting the district’s continued commitment to providing safe and innovative learning environments for all students and staff.

Ongoing Work:

  • LED Lighting Upgrades – Stadium lighting replacement projects are progressing at high school stadiums and district facilities:

  • Furniture Replacements – New furniture installations are underway at 15 campuses, improving the teaching and learning spaces in more than 475 classrooms. Updates include student and teacher desks and chairs, tables, and mobile whiteboards. 

    • Anderson Mill, Caldwell Heights, Double File Trail, Forest Creek,  Forest North, Gattis, Jollyville, Old Town, Pond Springs, Purple Stage, Spicewood, Voigt, and Wells Branch will all receive new furniture by the beginning of the spring semester.

  • CTE/Spectrum Building Design – District leaders are advancing programming and design for the new CTE/Spectrum Building, which will serve as the district’s flagship Career and Technical Education facility.

  • Fine Arts Refreshes – Band and orchestra programs are receiving instrument replacements, with several programs also set to receive new uniforms. 

  • Water bottle fillers – Work has begun, and nearly 700 water bottle fillers will be replaced over the next four years, with approximately 25% completed each year.


Completed:

  • LED lighting upgrades have been completed at Dragon Stadium (completed with 2018 Bond funds) and Westwood High School.

  • Student and teacher furniture has been installed at Bluebonnet and Union Hill elementaries. 

  • 44,000 student devices were delivered to campuses around the district.

Looking Ahead:

  • Early College High School is nearing completion and is expected to open to students and staff in spring 2026. Details regarding the grand opening ceremony will be shared in the coming months.

  • Round Rock High School is currently gathering community feedback to help identify priorities for its upcoming Bond project, with design expected to continue into the spring of 2026.

  • The marquee projects for the following nine campuses will be presented to the board for approval at the December meeting: Bluebonnet, Chisholm Trail, Deep Wood, Robertson, Callison, Chandler Oaks, Gattis, Hopewell, and Union Hill.

Board Actions:

Trustees approved several key items in August, September and October that support ongoing Bond implementation:

Oct. 9 called meeting

  • The board approved the CMAR contract for the McNeil bond project. The board also allocated funds from the 2018 and 2024 Bond programs to fund LED lighting upgrades at district facilities and high school stadiums.

    • Construction Managers At Risk ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.

Sept. 18 regular board meeting

  • The board approved the purchase of GoGuardian Beacon Software to enhance safety and monitoring on student devices. The board also approved the use of bond funds to purchase 10 new vehicles for the Round Rock ISD Police Department. 

  • Trustees approved CMARs for the following bond projects: McNeil HS, Stony Point HS, Berkman ES and CD Fulkes Auditorium

  • The board approved the contract for the architect to lead the bond project at Grisham MS

    • Architects are responsible for planning and designing our buildings and bringing the school community’s vision to life. 

Aug. 21 regular board meeting (Bond Update)

  • The board approved the use of bond funds to purchase elementary school furniture at 15 campuses throughout the district. 

  • Trustees also approved the use of bond funds to procure custodial equipment. 

  • The board approved architectural contracts for several bond projects.
